Performance Crackdown?
Many of those who are familiar with Boxing on Beale at the New Daisy Theatre know that scheduled bouts fall through from time to time. Bouts get marked off a card due to circumstances such as emergencies, no shows or fighters just plain refusing to fight. It is in our opinion at Memphisboxing.com that this past Tuesday night at the New Daisy Theatre, it seems there was a crack down on the latter two. At least one fighter was asked not to return to the New Daisy because of their lack of commitment to the ring (refused to fight). Comments were also made to at least one other fighter, suggesting that they not return to box at the New Daisy due to the fact their performances showed very, very little effort (which places them in danger of injury and make for noncompetitive fights). This message should ring out loud and clear to fighters and fight fans alike who are a part of the long running monthly boxing show held at New Daisy Theatre on Beale. What is the message? In the opinion of MemphisBoxing.com, the message to fighters is that they will agree to finish what they start or risk losing their opportunity to fight at the New Daisy venue. The message to fight fans is that they will see the show they came to see.
