With the close of the Title National Boxing Championships, Saturday, June 16, marked the completion of the tournament’s seventh year. Despite a a last minute venue change, the tournament drew more than 800 boxers and coaches from all over the United States, with over 45 states being represented . The competition level was high and closely compared to the energy of US Olympic Trails Boxing Tournament, with over 176 champions crowned. The tourney ran into the early morning hours on Thursday, Friday and ended at 11 p.m on Saturday. The Fight Connection and Tile Boxing Inc. would like to thank all Mid-South boxing fans that came out to show their support as well as and all their Mid-South sponsors.
After months of planning and the final arrangements being made Memphis code enforcement states New Arena is not up to code.
The New arena which was to be host of the TITLE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012 was to be the first event slated for the Areana inside the old Southbrook Mall , but upon final inspection it was found not up to the Memphis city code specs.
With only days left before over 800 Amatuer Boxers hit the Memphis Area Title Championships host John Bryant went scrabbling to find another venue local north mississippi Buissinessman Willie Knox came to the resucue without a moment of hesitation he offerd the Old Conential Arena in Olive Branch Mississippi at 10060 Old Hwy 78 only 15 min from the Shelby Drive location has been home to some of the Mid-souths biggest Tough Man competitions.
On Friday Knox’s crews those of Title National Championships spent well into the night Preparing for the 800 plus Amatuer boxers expected at this years tournament which is sponsored by the The Fight Connection Gym in Olive Branch and Tilte Boxing Inc. in Kansas.
Address for the new venue is: 10060 Old Hwy 78 Olive Branch Ms (at the corner of old 78 and Magnolia). Tickets are $12 per night or $25 for a 3 day pass.
On a fight card dubbed “Unfinished Business,” Monyette Flowers came up big, winning by a TKO in the second round of the featured bout at the Omni New Daisy Theatre on Tuesday night (April 10).
Tyrone Dowdy, who went the distance against Flowers in a losing effort 2/28 at the New Daisy, was determined to bring his fans a higher-level of satisfaction. Monyette Flowers, of Flowers Power Boxing stable, vowed he was, “coming back to put somebody to sleep.” Continue reading

Sources say the John Johnson fight, originally scheduled on the James “Lights Out” Toney verses Bobby “the Celtic Warrior” Gunn undercard, has been scratched. No word on a replacement fight.
It has been reported that Boxing Hall of Famer, author and actor, Bert Sugar has lost a long battle with lung cancer. He was 74. With the passing of Sugar, a boxing icon has been lost. Rest in peace Mr. Sugar.
