Local Unbeaten Contenders Square Off in Battle at Newby’s
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Jan. 8, 2010) –Familiar foes Trip Carter and Chantein Waison, both from the Memphis area, will put their perfect records on the line Thursday Jan. 21 when they go toe-to-toe in V3 Fights’ latest mixed-martial-arts bout at Newby’s on Highland.
These two fast-rising stars in the amateur MMA circuit will be meeting in the ring for the first time, but there is already blood in the water.
“ These guys are both extremely competitive, and on top of that, they can’t stand each other,” said V3 Fights president Nick Harmeier. “This fight will be brutal and ultimately show fans across the Mid-South who is the fighter to be reckoned with in that weight class.”
Carter and Waison fight in the 155-pound weight class and have already given fans some memorable performances. Carter is undefeated with two victories by decision and no defeats. Waison, on the other hand, has achieved his perfect record in a more explosive fashion, scoring a first round knockout and a first round submission to go with no defeats.
The fight card features ten bouts. Doors are scheduled to open at 7 p.m., and the fights begin at 8 p.m. Ticket start at $20 and are available at the door or online at http://www.newbysmemphis.com.
