Guthrie KO’s Wiggins In South Carolina!

39-year-old former light heavyweight champion William Guthrie (35-3-2, 28 KOs) knocked out Donnell Wiggins (24-8-3, 14 KOs) at 2:21 of the fourth round of their scheduled eight round bout on Saturday at the Florence County Fairgrounds in Florence, South Carolina. A short straight right hand sent Wiggins to the canvas face first for the full count. “We plan to aggressively seek a world title fight for Guthrie with any of the current world champions at light heavyweight,” said Al Mermini of Silverhawk Promotions.

WBC #1 rated super middleweight Otis “Magic” Grant pounded out a methodical ten round decision over Donnell Wiggins on Saturday afternoon on the GYM Promotions card at the Lac Leamy Casino in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. Scores were 99-91, 98-92, 98-92.

WBC number one ranked Otis Grant is now scheduled to fight Covington, TN’s Donnell Wiggins next Saturday (10/29) at the Lac Leamy Casino in Gatineau Quebec. Wiggins was chosen to replace the injured Cristian Sanavia.

Covington, Tn fighter, Donnell Wiggins (21-5-2, 12KO) was KO’d early in round 2 by hard hitting light Heavyweight Yusef Mack, who improves his record to (16-0-2, 10KO). The fight was on the undercard of Elder vs. Trejo and was televised by ESPN2 Friday night from the Atlanta Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA.

Boxing on the undercard of the Ebo Elder vs Fernando Trejo bout, Covington, Tennessee’s, Donnell Wiggins (21-4-2, 12KO) will take on Light Heavyweight Yusef Mack (15-0-2, 9KO) tongiht at the Atlanta Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA. Wiggins is 1-2 in his last 3 fights but has faced some major fire power in Jeff Lacy and Rico Hoye. In Wiggins’ last fight he defeated Charles Ward at the New Daisy Theater in Memphis, TN. The Elder/Trejo bout is televised on ESPN2, however, it is not certain that the Wiggins/Mack bout will be televised.

Former NABF Light Heavyweight Champ and Covington, TN native Donnell Wiggins scored an impressive KO over a game Charles Ward (Covington, TN) at :29 left in round 5. Wiggins improves his record to 21-4-2 with 12KO. Wards record falls to 7-19, 5KO.

Perryman Turns out the lights on Anthony!

Clarksdale, MS, Heavyweight Willie Perryman (7-6, 5KO), welcomed Richard Anthony to the New Dasiy by handing him a 1st round KO in his professional boxing debut. Anthony was overwhelmed by Perryman’s pressure and power. The KO came with :59 seconds left in round one.

Freeman Decisions Yarborough

In a fight that will possibly be the June Fight of the Month, Rodney Freeman pulled out a unanimous decision over journeyman Lester Yarbrough. Freeman has won 4 straight matches since being KO’d by Chris Burford in November ’03. Freeman is now 4-1, 2 KO. Yarbrough’s record falls to 12-44-1, 5 KO.

D. Logan, Sharpening Skills

Covington, TN, boxer Darnell Logan contiunes to look like a very promising up and coming fighter in the ring. He shows good discipline quick feet and a nice jab with increasing power. That being said, the opponents that he has come to face in the ring have had combined records of 0-15 and none of those charactersists. Logan will eventually step up to fight some better fights in the near future but there is no reason to rush his growth and throw him into the mix before he is ready.

On October 11th, the main event at the Grand Casino Coushatta in Kinder, LA will feature Covington, TN, fighter, Donnel Wiggins as he climbs into the ring with Rodney Moore. The two will battle for the NABF Light Heavyweight title. Tickets are $15 and $50. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Welterweight, Marteze Logan, coming off a loss to Jeffrey Resto (17-0, 11 KOs) on the undercard of the Monteil – Johnson fight, defeated Mark Ladner (0-3) by a RD 1 TKO and Donnell Wiggins (19-2-2, 11 KOs) TKO’d Caseny (K.C.) Truesdale (8-46-2, 6 KOs) in a cruiserweight matchup. Both fights where on the card of a new fight series being held at the Trap Nightclub in Nashville, Tennessee.
